Dr. Derek John is an RTTP-qualified Technology Transfer Professional at RCSI, with extensive experience in the management and commercialisation of intellectual property (IP) across both industrial and academic sectors. He plays a key role in supporting the commercialisation of RCSI research through invention disclosures, IP protection, partnering and licensing, and the creation of spin-out companies.
A Medicinal Chemist by training, Derek brings over 15 years of drug discovery experience spanning biotech and big pharma. He is a co-inventor on 11 patent applications and the inventor of the Xention clinical candidate. His combined expertise in science, innovation, and commercialisation positions him at the intersection of research translation and industry impact.
