Prof. Niall Barron is a Professor of Biochemical Engineering at the School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, University College Dublin (UCD), and Principal Investigator at the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research & Training (NIBRT).
His research focuses on targeted genetic engineering strategies to enhance the production of recombinant therapeutic proteins, viral and non-viral gene therapies and modified cell therapies. Prof Barron leads translational and industry-engaged work in biopharma process development and upstream manufacturing innovation, positioning him at the interface of engineering, biotechnology and therapeutic production.
