Prof. Stephen Maher is a Professor in Translational Oncology at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), where he leads the Cancer Chemoradiation Research Group. He earned a PhD in oncology from RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed a fellowship at the US National Cancer Institute before returning to Ireland to develop his independent research programme. Since his appointment at TCD, Prof Maher has built an internationally recognised track record in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of resistance to chemoradiation in gastrointestinal cancers, securing competitive funding and mentoring early-career researchers.
