Professor Walter Kolch is Director of Systems Biology Ireland and the Precision Oncology Ireland Consortium at University College Dublin. Originally trained as a clinician, he is internationally recognised for uncovering how cell-signalling networks drive cancer progression and treatment resistance. His team integrates proteomics, multi-omics and computational “digital twin” models to better predict patient responses. With an h-index over 100 and major research funding exceeding €200 million, he is a leading figure in precision medicine whose work bridges fundamental biology and real-world impact in cancer care.
