In high-calorie diets stress inside liver cells drive inflammation and scarring. Some bile acids naturally help proteins fold correctly, easing this stress. This project explores a new compound—already showing strong results in animal studies—to develop improved treatments that use this “protein-stabilizing” approach to protect the liver.
